Sasha was brought to the Animal Trustees of Austin clinic in June as a stray dog. We took her to the Town Lake Animal Shelter in the hopes that her owners would be looking for her. No one reclaimed this sweet gentle dog and unfortunately she was not a candidate for
adoption after it was discovered that she had a serious heart murmur. She was marked for euthanasia. Since she had clearly been brought to us for a reason, we rescued her knowing that she was at risk and medical care was imperative.
Thanks to Austin cardiologist, Dr.Charla Jones, Sasha was put on medication and referred for a medical procedure to improve her quality of life. In August 2008, an expert veterinary team at Texas A&M performed the cardiac catheterization and balloon valvuloplasty and she now has a good prognosis.
Our animal loving friend, Alice Berkman, painted the magnificent portrait of Sasha. Alice donated the painting to Animal Trustees of Austin to raise money to help cover the considerable cost of Sasha’s heart procedure and care at A&M. We will auction off the painting on eBay starting September 30th. Keep an eye out for more from Sasha as she fills the role of Animal Trustees of Austin Spokesdog when Jessie Rose begins her much-deserved retirement.
Bid on this beautiful painting now until October 7 at eBay. 100% of the proceeds benefit Animal Trustees of Austin!
